Cardoso urges Sundowns fans to trust his rotation policy
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has urged supporters to trust his decisions as he continues rotating his squad amid a congested fixture schedule.
Sundowns have already won two trophies this season, the MTN8 and the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup. They are also leading the Betway Premiership.
Cardoso says his team selections will be based on players’ physical condition rather than their usual status as regular starters.
“I would like the fans to understand that we need to rotate players and support our decisions.
“We need to use the players who are in the best condition to play,” Cardoso said.
The Portuguese coach also stressed the importance of keeping every player motivated and ready to take advantage of opportunities when they arise.
He pointed to Fawaaz as an example. The player impressed in the semi-final but did not start the final, with Devine Lunga and Aubrey Modiba preferred instead.
“We tell them to trust us because their time will come. Fawaaz understands that he needs to remain ready to play,” Cardoso said.
The Sundowns coach believes competition for places across the squad will help maintain high standards as the club continues to compete on multiple fronts.
