Sheppard Explains Da Cruz's Illness as Chiefs Drop Points

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Dillon Sheppard has explained why head coach Fernando Da Cruz did not appear before the media after the Betway Premiership match.

Sheppard said Da Cruz had been unwell, but became very sick towards the end of the game.

Chiefs came from behind to draw 1-1 with Stellenbosch FC at home at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night.

Da Cruz was expected to speak to TV broadcasters and the media after the match, as is the norm. That did not happen because he was being attended to by doctors after vomiting.

“The coach is sick. He was vomiting, so the doctors are looking at him at the moment,” Sheppard said.

Chiefs dropped points at home again, which has left them falling behind the teams that were in the title race at the start of the season.

The three teams above them, Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu FC, all won.

This dip in form should now be worrying Da Cruz, and he will need to arrest it quickly if Chiefs are to stay in the race for the league title.
