The vision of this campaign is to unite the people of Joburg who believe in a City that works, run by a government that cares.

Once elected, we will stop the rot, fix what is broken, and rebuild Joburg into a City its residents can be proud of — a City that delivers reliable services, ethical leadership, safer communities, and real opportunities to work, live, and succeed.

We have identified the following five priorities which we will achieve in five years. The priorities are summarised as follows: Reliable water and electricity for all residents We will stop the stealing and wasting of money. We will ring-fence revenues paid for the most important services and invest in improving those services. We will partner with the private sector to build Joburg’s future. Roads that work We will fill potholes within 72 hours, get 95% of traffic lights working and repaint road markings. We will use modern technology to protect major intersections, and stand up to rogue taxis. Attract 200,000 new jobs to Joburg. With a capable government and quality basic services, we will bring Joburg’s business centres back to life. The local economy will grow, and jobs will return. Joburg can only be saved in partnership with business and the City’s heroic residents. Law and order! Kill corruption and make public spaces safer.

We will be tough on crime, reclaim hijacked buildings and stop land invasions. We will have zero tolerance for illegal immigration. We will listen to whistle-blowers, protect them, and fire corrupt officials.

⁠A professional, modern government. A City we can be proud of.

We will hire competent professionals, reward good performance, and punish poor performance. A fair billing system. Simple, user-friendly systems with the best of modern technology. A government by you, for you, and with you.

The DA’s signature good governance awaits Johannesburg following the local government election. We believe in Joburg, and we will Get Joburg Working.

The United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry has confirmed that Israel has committed four of the five genocidal acts defined by the 1948 Genocide Convention, including mass killings, starvation of civilians, destruction of civilian infrastructure, and deliberate acts of dehumanisation. These findings affirm what Palestinians and solidarity movements have long asserted: Israel is pursuing a state-led campaign of extermination. To deny this reality or excuse it is to be complicit.

Helen Zille says genocide is a big word. Reality is that, as Rev. Chikane says:

> “Genocide is not just a word, it is reality, it is a word happening in a big way in Gaza now. Children are being starved to death; Palestinians are killed in their thousands; hospitals, schools, places of worship, and any life-supporting systems, settlements destroyed and bombed. This falls within the definition of Genocide in terms of the UN Genocide Convention. You can’t lie and say, you don’t know or did not know!”

Helen Zille’s remarks are not accidental but a deliberate attempt to whitewash genocide. Her position mirrors the logic of South Africa’s former apartheid rulers and undermines the values of our own Constitution. We are not surprised considering how the DA governs the Western Cape, where the poor communities are attacked through deliberate actions of deficiency in service delivery.

South Africans know from lived experience that liberation is only possible when global solidarity isolates perpetrators of injustice. Today, we carry that same responsibility to stand with the Palestinian people, intensify boycotts, and mobilise for sanctions and an arms embargo against Israel.

The City of Johannesburg is not only the economic hub of the country but is also a cosmopolitan metropolis of the African continent, where people from everywhere in the continent and elsewhere, converge for better economic opportunities.

The absolute leader of the Democratic Alliance, Helen Zille in 2012, whilst serving as Premier of the Western Cape, referred to the people of Eastern Cape who relocated to the Western Cape as refugees, and demanded their immediate deportation.

These utterances not only undermined the compass of our constitutional democracy but confirmed the DA policy of exclusionism which is characterised by prejudice and collective hatred for Black people.

The deep-seated idiocy in her statement on Eastern Cape refugees was owing to the fact that Helen Zille herself was born in Johannesburg with both her parents of German descent but still had the impudence to refer to indigenous people with such resentment.

In her nomination acceptance speech, Helen Zille promised the citizens of Johannesburg, “better delivery of water, electricity, road repair and refuse services”, which is in stark contrast to her legacy of disservice in the vast majority of African and Coloured townships in the City of Cape Town.

Helen Zille’s self-proclaimed clean governance during her tenure as Mayor of Cape Town is in full display as one drives along the N7 in the densely populated poverty-stricken Du Noon near Killarney, her legacy project in Blikkiesdorp in Delft, where temporary structures have been turned into permanent residence since 2007.

The only proven track record to be attributed to the DA is its inherent disregard for transformation, and their political conviction remains that of the protection of White privilege and supremacy.

The DA and its Johannesburg Mayoral candidate are disingenuous in their promise for service delivery, and the only vice that cannot be forgiven is hypocrisy.
