Real name Sindisiwe Dlamini, Singer and Songwriter, LaSauce is back and she is now the gender based violence activist after being absent from the music scene for years.

Known for her hit songs “Emafini,” “Ncese” and the popular sing along “I Do” where she is featuring Amanda Black, La Sauce is back on the music scene with an anthem against Gender Based Violence (GBV) and advocating the empowerment of women.

Her latest single titled Imbokodo’ celebrates the ferocity of women and speaks out against the rising scourge of gender-based violence.

It was for released on 25 November which coincided with the national annual “16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.

The song features one of the country’s legends Yvonne Chaka-Chaka. Another notable feature in the song is vocal poet and podcaster Ntsiki Mazwai who lends her poetic skills in a moving poem complementing La’ Sauce’s sultry voice.

She said that the song is to remind women of the power they have and not to give up in their fight, “just like the generation that marched back then did.”

La Sauce said that she believed that ‘Imbokodo’ is “not a come a come-back song”.

“I hadn’t left at all. I took a break to learn more about the industry and to set up Ubuntu Foundation, which is a vehicle that I use for one of my passions – women empowerment. The work I have been doing, what I have learned and the song had to come together at some point. The universe spoke. One cannot say I am on a comeback because my online listenership is to this day in the region of six figures,” she said.

La Sauce said that the single forms part of an EP that she will be unpacking in phases to her fans who have been asking her for more music.

“Fans can rest assured of a classic La’ Sauce gem “that I am proud to share with the world. I have put so much work into this project and I can’t wait to have it out there,” she said.

 La Sauce sultry features ballads as well as a “new sound,” and is produced by Vuyo Manike and Ruff1020 who is a partner of Sjava at the 1020 Cartel.

“What is set to get the spotlight on the song is the ‘elephant in the room,” the feature of Mazwai. Given the fact that the theme for this year’s campaign is “UNITE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls,” Mazwai feature and voice brings more relevance as she has and continues to be the victim of online violence.
