Duba Leads the Line, Dortley Steps In: Chiefs Name XI for Siwelele Quarterfinal

Fernando Da Cruz has named his Kaizer Chiefs team for the Carling Knockout quarterfinal, and he is trusting the man who just hit three past TS Galaxy.

Chiefs take on Siwelele FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday, kick-off is at 6pm. They are looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-1 Soweto Derby defeat to Orlando Pirates and keep alive one of their best remaining chances of silverware this season.

Wandile Duba leads the attack after his hat-trick against Galaxy in the last round. Mduduzi Shabalala, Mfundo Vilakazi and Pule Mmodi provide the creativity behind him.

Inacio Miguel is suspended after his red card in the derby, so Rushwin Dortley comes into central defence. Brandon Petersen captains the side in goal.

Caretaker coach Godfrey Mosoetsa’s side reached the last eight on penalties against Polokwane City. They have only one league win this season, but they pushed Chiefs close in September, losing 3-2. Aphiwe Baliti is suspended.

Da Cruz has said the change of venue from FNB should not be a distraction. The only focus is the semi-finals.

Chiefs XI: Petersen (c), Solomons, Dortley, Moloisane, Mako, Maboe, Mthethwa, Mmodi, Shabalala, Vilakazi, Duba

Subs: Bvuma, Kwinika, Nkgwesa, Mabaso, Ngcobo, Da Silva, Ighodaro, Velebayi, Abrahams
