KZN Cop Mocked After Getting Arrested in Branded Political Vehicle at Voting Station
Social media users and local community members have reacted with absolute disbelief after a police Sergeant was arrested today at a voting station for driving a vehicle heavily branded with political party colors.
The incident took place during today’s Local Government Elections at the Mphithini voting station in Donnybrook, deep within the southern region of KwaZulu-Natal.
Instead of maintaining strict state neutrality, the police officer boldly drove right into the high-security voting precinct in a vehicle fully wrapped in the campaign colors of a specific political party.
His audacity did not last long. On-duty police officers stationed at the venue instantly swooped in, removed him from his election duties, and placed him under immediate arrest.
Witnesses described the scene as highly embarrassing, noting that he was quickly slapped with handcuffs by his very own colleagues in front of hundreds of queuing voters.
The community has slammed the officer’s bizarre and highly reckless actions, with many comparing her behavior to self-sabotage of the highest order.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Phumelele Makoba, confirmed that the Sergeant is facing a severe double-blow.
Not only will he face harsh internal disciplinary steps by the South African Police Service (SAPS) for extreme unprofessionalism, but criminal proceedings are also actively being opened against him for directly violating the Electoral Act.
