Clean Sweep: MK Party Secures All 9 Wards in Richmond Municipality
In a dramatic political shift, the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) has secured a decisive victory in the Richmond local municipality elections, completing a clean sweep by winning all nine municipal wards.
The outcome marks a devastating blow to the African National Congress (ANC), which previously held administrative dominance in the area.
The MKP’s flawless victory effectively wrests total control of the municipality away from the ruling party, signaling a massive realignment of voter loyalty in the region.
Local MKP supporters erupted into celebrations as the final results were confirmed, chanting the party’s popular slogan, “Gwaza mkhonto Gwaza!” (Stab, spear, stab!).
Political analysts suggest that this clean sweep underscores the MKP’s rapidly growing momentum and its ability to completely displace the ANC in traditional strongholds.
The total takeover of Richmond’s nine wards leaves the ANC facing a difficult road ahead as it attempts to recalibrate its strategy against a fierce and highly mobilized opposition.
