Former Mk Party SG Sibonelo Nomvalo To Address Media In Durban Following Removal
Former uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party secretary-general Sibonelo Nomvalo is expected to hold a press conference at the Royal Majestic Hotel in Durban tommorow Friday, 30 October 2026, at 9am, following his removal from the position.
Nomvalo, who was appointed in March 2026, was removed on 22 October after the party raised several concerns about his leadership, including alleged irregularities in the councillor selection process, internal factionalism, dual remuneration and delays in distributing election campaign materials.
The party also raised concerns over changes to parliamentary leadership structures and the establishment of senior deployment committees allegedly without the knowledge of party president Jacob Zuma and other leaders.
Nomvalo was also removed as a Member of Parliament, while Lindiwe Mtshali was appointed acting secretary-general.
The press conference comes just days before the 4 November local government elections, with attention expected to focus on Nomvalo’s response to his removal and the allegations raised against him.
